Have you heard about our “Butterflies & Bowties Project” yet? Our fabric designers got together to create a unique and exciting quilt using their latest collections. Each designer is creating their own version of the classic “Old Maids Puzzle” block in their fabric collection. All the block will be put together in a quilt that will be raffled off for charity later this year.

Want to join in the fun? We’d love to see your versions of the block in our fabrics! Use the hashtag #butterfliesandbowties, #benartex, and #benartexfabrics on social media.

Here is how Nancy Halvorsen gave her unique spin to our project.

My Wander Lane II fabric line has prints for Autumn and Winter, so of course I needed to make two blocks for the Benartex Butterflies & Bowties Project. The featured block is an Old Maid’s Puzzle block.

Instead of making one 12” block, I made four 6” blocks with a little creative twist in the middle to show off the adorable house prints from this line.

I’m in love with Wander Lane!

Nancy Halvorsen

Nancy Halvorsen has been designing quilt patterns and project books since 1992. “I’ve always been interested in creating, drawing and sewing since I was a little girl”. Soon after she learned to quilt, she started designing her own patterns for herself and her home. After receiving lots of positive feedback, she started publishing her own patterns. As another outlet for her creativity, and to add an exciting new aspect to her quilt designing, she started designing fabrics for Benartex in 1997.

Besides her love of sewing and quilting, Nancy loves chocolate and being out in nature. The highlights of her life are spending time with her husband, Rick, her four children and their spouses, and nine grandchildren! See her designs at arttoheart.com.
