Welcome to the second installment of the “Butterflies & Bowties Project”!

This is a collective project by Benartex’s textile and quilt designers who got together to create a unique quilt using their latest fabric collections. Each of them is going to create their original version of the classic “Old Maids Puzzle” block. Once the blocks are completed we will put them all together into a quilt that will then be raffled off for charity later this year.

Our next blocks are from Cherry Guidry.

This was a fun block to stitch out! I used my Nordic Cabin collection to make two Butterflies and Bowties blocks!

The first block features the little cabin print on a gray background plus two red and white coordinating prints.
For the background, the beautiful white-on-white that has a gorgeous pearlescent finish, perfect for a holiday project… I wish you could see this fabric in person!
For this block, I decided to play a bit with the original layout and add a little four-patch block, I love the secondary effect it creates when this block is repeated in a quilt.
For the second block, I kept the original design and chose prints filled with snowflakes, cookies, and little Christmas sentiments in a red, white & green palette.
